Researchers gave rats Yemeni Sidr honey by mouth at three doses and measured its effect on induced inflammation, pain response and fever, then analysed the honey to identify which compounds it contained.

The effect increased with the dose across all three measures, and the honey was found to contain flavonoids, alkaloids, saponins and tannins.
This study used Yemeni Sidr honey specifically — not Saudi, not Pakistani — which makes it one of the more directly relevant papers to what we sell.
What lifts it above a single observation is that the response scaled with dose across three separate measures, tested by different methods. Consistency across independent tests is harder to produce by accident.
The researchers also ran a chemical screen and identified flavonoids, steroids, alkaloids, saponins and tannins — offering a plausible explanation for the effect rather than leaving it unexplained.
What this study does not show
- Rats, not people, and the inflammation was chemically induced in a laboratory.
- The paper's own opening repeats traditional claims about curing liver problems, ulcers and respiratory disorders. Those are folklore, not findings, and we do not repeat them.
- Doses were 100–500 mg per kilogram of body weight in rats and do not map onto a spoonful.
- Identifying compounds in honey is not the same as showing those compounds do anything once eaten.
